Security

Nobody can predict the next attack, but you can make sure your software is ready for one and limits the damage if it comes. We find and fix weaknesses in existing systems and build new ones to be secure from the start.

Built in, not bolted on

Every language can be written insecurely, and the same feature can be built a dozen ways that are not equally safe. Security comes from careful choices made line by line, so we make them from the start rather than patching later.

What we look for

  • Access control. People should reach only what their role allows. Mistakes here are among the most common causes of data leaks.
  • Sessions and accounts. Sign-in sessions that can't be stolen, guessed or replayed, stored where only the application can reach them.
  • Injection. User input that ends up inside database queries or pages without being handled safely.
  • Secrets. Passwords and keys kept out of code and repositories, encrypted at rest and rotated when needed.
  • Third-party code. Libraries and services checked before they are trusted, because borrowed code can carry borrowed problems.

Fail closed

When something goes wrong, a secure system refuses access rather than letting everyone in. Our own CoreRift Gate is built that way: if it can't be reached, invite codes stop working instead of opening the door.
